Rogue Scholars began in 2004 when
Bruce and Jeff, two English teachers, met at work and decided to put together a two-man combo to play
classic and modern rock, focusing on familiar but underplayed music from the 60s
to today. The more they rehearsed, though, the more they missed a driving
drumbeat in their music. Dave, the drummer in another of Jeff's bands, came on
board, making the group a power trio. Since Bruce's main strength as a guitarist
was rhythm playing, the Scholars sought out Rich, a lead guitarist and an old
partner of Jeff's from previous bands. Now the group brings its carefully
selected, energetic rock tunes to clubs and parties throughout New York State's
Capital Region.
